JOY-TH (Journey Of Yoga Therapy for Healing) is an innovative group-based (currently virtual) course offered for referred patients with anxiety or depression.
The course will combine three evidence-based treatments for depression: physical activity, cognitive based mindfulness training and yoga. It is led by Lucinda Kunkel, MD, FRCP(C), who has over twenty years of training and credentialing in each of these treatment methods. Each class will be 90 minutes, consisting of initial discussion and education, breathing exercises (pranayama), mindfulness meditation (dharana), physical postures (asanas), and reflection. There are eight classes in each course.
This is a physically active flow-based yoga class, and it can make you sweat! Modifications are available to enable you to go at your own pace, so that everyone can benefit regardless of fitness level or previous yoga experience.

Week 2 – Healing/ Release Theme
Week 3 – Acceptance (Self and Circumstances) Theme
Week 4 – Self Compassion Theme
Week 5 – Strength Theme
Week 6 – Balance Theme
Week 7 – Loving-Kindness Theme
Week 8 – Integration of all of the above Themes
