Education Evenings

MDA provides opportunities for learning through our monthly, free education evenings. These evenings cover a range of mental health topics by a variety of presenters in the mental health field.

Consumers, friends, families and other interested parties are invited and no pre-registration is needed unless otherwise specified. 
 
MDA Education Evenings are held on the third Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted. Evenings are held at:

Sunrise Hall, 1950 Windermere Street, Vancouver, BC.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)
& THE WORKPLACE

Recovery and getting back to real life often means going back to work.

SPEAKER: 
Dr. Joti Samra, R. Psych.
Adjunct Professor & Scientist
SFU Faculty of Health Sciences

 
Dr. Samra conducts research in mental health and addiction as they pertain to the workplace.

Psychological health conditions, particularly depression, have a great impact on workers and

workplaces and affect worker efficiency, morale and relationships with colleagues and

customers. These concerns are true for all organizations and employees.

The goals of the session are to:

·        Define psychological health

·        Increase awareness of the nature of low mood and depression and understand their impact in the workplace

·        Learn about Antidepressant Skills @ Work, a free, confidential, evidence-based resource to help individuals manage stress, depression and low mood
